The Queen of Holland Marijke Vink

After a year without flying a decision was made by . Marijke Vink  in 2007 to try again with the youngsters. It became a challenge to try to get back on the top.
in 2008 the first year they only race youngsters, Marijke basketted her young pigeons only 9 times. In the first race that year she won 1st  Pommeroeul 4,549 birds. with a gr.son of “Aladin”, 1st  Mariembourg 4,331 birds. with “Domela” . He is bred out a full brother of “Tips” and 1st  Ablis 2,292 birds  4 minutes ahead with a full sister of “Demelza”, a son of “Domela” won 6th  Peronne against 26,271 birds. “Domela” won 4th  Chateauroux  against 8,201 birds.  It seemed that Marijke and Henk hadn’t forgotten  how to win with their pigeons.

In the year 2009 they were back with a vengeance, 1st Bourges N.P.O. 8,579 birds. with “Domela” and 10th  Bourges N.P.O. 8,579 birds with “Verdi”. “Verdi’s” father is a son of “Aladin” and his mother is a daughter of  “Che” from the Eijerkamp loft. Marijke won  1st  Champion Extreme Middle Distance Province 5. Then a year later in 2010, winning this title again, this shows the class of the pigeon  and the craftsmanship of Marijke Now in the year 2010 a son of  “Verdi” won 1st Peronne N.P.O. 38,775 birds. As a youngster he also won a 1st  from Strombeek against 3,988 birds, “4th Orleans N.P.O. against 10,660 birds. “Valerie” won 4th  Creil  N.P.O. 29,208 birds, 1st Pommeroeul 1.145 p.

Looking to improve the loft, Marijke purchased descendants of “Kleine Dirk” and they have seriously pushed the performance higher, and not only for Marijke Vink. She also searched for birds to possibly push up the performance. She also obtained a few successful acquisitions from the line of  “Golden Lady and it was a direct bulls-eye. Once again it was a direct Koopman pigeon The NL 05-1936775 or “Louis” from Koopman is father NL 01-1135568 is a son of the famous “Ons Louis” from Koopman. The mother of “Louis” is “Showpiece”, also a wonderfull  breeding hen.  In the short time he resided here in the lofts “Louis” was father of the following toppers of the loft; “Kleine Dibha” 9th  Ablis N.P.O. in 2007,“Demelza” 3rd  Blois N.P.O.15,172 birds and Orleans N.P.O. 12,047 birds.“Valerie” 4th  Creil N.P.O. 29,208 birds, 1st Pommerouel 1,145 birdss.

A dau. of the world famous “Che  NL-07-1371254” from the Eijerkamp loft was introduced, her mother is a daughter of…. “Kleine Dirk”. This dau. of Che” has proven what excellent pigeons can do to a loft. Her first son “Verdi” is a real champion  his first son gave Marijke one of her 1st  Peronne against 38,775 birds. the breeding loft   has 11 pairs, almost completely consists of the lines of  “Verdi”, “Louis”, “Demelza” and “Daughter Che” But don’t forget the father of “Kilwillie” referring to the well-known “666”  NL 01-0108666 from the champion  Henk Melis.  Marijke indicates that there are purchases made which have gone  as quickly as they came.

The loft is smaller than most Holland lofts and  Marijke still is able to achieve the excellent  results and championships of a mega loft. Despite the small loft they have thought long and hard about the lay out. There is a loft measuring a few meters for the 9 widowers pigeons. There is a loft which is divided for the racing 14 widow hens and the 25 YB, for the 11 pairs of breeders there is aloft in the garage adjoining the house.

They race both the cocks and hens are raced widowhood, but their partner always remains homes. In other words both the hens of the widowers as with the cocks of the widow hens are never raced. The widowers and the breeders are paired at the same time and the eggs from the breeders are placed under the widowers. Both the cocks and the hens raise two youngsters if possible, then they separated and are paired again in March. After sitting for 5 days the widowhood starts. They don’t believe in showing the partners or other tricks before shipping. They are just removed from the loft for the first 6 weeks, after that period they are sometimes given a bowl  but never a hen. The hens are always shown their partner before being basketed, and depending on the race the partners are sometimes shown after the race. The youngsters are darkened and are raced natura, after the race season the pigeons are allowed to raise a round of youngsters after which they are separated. Marijke finds it important that the pigeons, after a season enjoy themselves, at this time the birds spend plenty of time outside.

The care we can describe as very punctual and totally in the hands of Marijke, once the racing has started the pigeons are let out twice a day. When the pigeons are well, then they fly enough themselves. The youngsters on the other hand are let out only once a day to fly, they rush outside and disappear for  over 1 ½ hours. The birds are fed with a free hand. Especially as the long distance races start. In the beginning of the season they sometimes add depurative to the racing mix and certainly in the short distance races. But the pigeons are fed well, they can also eat as much as they want when they return from a race. This is on the advice of Gerard Koopman. they have taken the advice of Gerard on most things, the water dishes is  refreshed once a day. They are regularly given vegetables, brewer’s yeast, and peanuts..
